The criteria to receive the scholarship is simply to have financial need.
Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a quarterly basis, and scholarships will be awarded for a 6-month period. This means that in order to continue receiving financial support, awardees will need to reapply for the scholarship every six months. Because our awards are based on skill level, this cycle will allow adjustments in alignment with your growth as a circus artist. Therefore, skill level will be explicitly considered at each application/reapplication time point.
The scholarship payment structure, by experience level, will be as follows:
This structure reflects the assumption that beginners are only taking beginner classes, while high-level students are anticipated to have lower need for support with specific skill-building classes. The dollar amounts are based on typical beginning aerial class session rates and unlimited monthly pass prices at GPCC, but you are not required to take classes at GPCC for the scholarship.
In addition to instruction, scholarships also provide funding for transportation, clothing, at-home workout equipment, and tickets to professional circus shows. (funds permitting)
